Before your first session we need a few details — an emergency contact, and the standard questions every running group asks. Answer honestly. Nobody gets turned away for a "yes"; we might just ask you to have a quick word with your GP first.

Health questions

These are the standard pre-activity readiness questions (PAR-Q). Answering "yes" doesn't exclude you — it just means we'd like you to check with your GP before starting.

Has a doctor ever said you have a heart condition and that you should only do physical activity recommended by a doctor?

Do you feel pain in your chest when you do physical activity?

In the past month, have you had chest pain when you were not doing physical activity?

Do you lose your balance because of dizziness, or do you ever lose consciousness?

Do you have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by a change in your physical activity?

Is a doctor currently prescribing you medication for blood pressure or a heart condition?

Do you know of any other reason why you should not take part in physical activity?

This is what a first aider would need to know. Write "none" if that's the answer.

Answered yes to anything? That's fine — please just speak to your GP before the first session and tell them about the programme (it starts with 1-minute run/walk intervals). If your GP is happy, so are we.
